On 18 January 2014, all the students from the \u00c9cole d\u2019enseignement technique de l\u2019arm\u00e9e de l\u2019air (EETAA – French Air Force School of Technical Education) honoured the Antoine de Saint-Exup\u00e9ry Youth Foundation on the occasion of a unique event paying tribute to Major Antoine de Saint-Exup\u00e9ry at air base 722 in Saintes.<\/p>\n

This encounter allowed more than 350 young boys and girls from the EETAA to discover the international activities carried out by the Foundation and to attend a unique lecture given by Mr. Fran\u00e7ois d’Agay, nephew and godson of Antoine de Saint-Exup\u00e9ry, and Lieutenant Colonel Herv\u00e9 de Saint-Exup\u00e9ry, Officer of the French Air Force delegated to Youth and Equal Opportunity.<\/p>\n

The young student technicians then watched a video on French astronaut Claudie Haigner\u00e9, chairwoman of the Foundation’s patronage committee, and a report on the Solar Impulse project led by the Swiss adventurers, Dr. Bertrand Piccard and Andr\u00e9 Borschberg, patrons of the Foundation, before attending a presentation of the exhibition \u201cLa Terre en heritage\u201d (Inheriting the Earth, Saint-Exup\u00e9ry: Save the Planet of The Little Prince) by Jean-Pierre Gu\u00e9no, the author of a book of the same name, and director of culture at the Mus\u00e9e des lettres & manuscrits (Museum of Letters & Manuscripts) in Paris.<\/p>\n

To conclude this unique event, a giant fresco of the writer and aviator\u2019s life and work, painted by the students with the help of their teachers, was inaugurated by the Commandant of air base 722, Colonel Philippe Eschbach, and the representatives of the Foundation, who then christened the aeronautic hangar of the EETAA by unveiling a commemorative plaque in memory of Antoine de Saint-Exup\u00e9ry.<\/p>\n
