Saint-Exup\u00e9ry international writing contest \u2013 Madeleine Adoumbou (25 years old, Chaponost), Marien C\u00f4me (22 years old, Amboise) and Lou Gurak (13 years old, Lille) \u2013 were welcomed by the prestigious Patrouille de France (French Air Force Acrobatic Team \u2013 PAF), on the occasion of the second leg of the Raid Lat\u00e9co\u00e8re-A\u00e9ropostale and the centenary celebrations of the Toulouse-Perpignan-Barcelona airmail route.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fraid.late%2Fvideos%2F1928222343880184%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This unique competition entitled &#8220;Aviation To Connect Youth&#8221;, initiated by the Antoine de Saint-Exup\u00e9ry Youth Foundation, was organised in partnership with the Labo des Histoires, the Raid Lat\u00e9co\u00e8re-A\u00e9ropostale and Editions Gallimard to encourage youth to practice writing and to promote the influence of the French language internationally.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Launched symbolically by Senegalese and French students in Saint-Louis, accompanied by the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, during his state visit to Senegal in February 2018, this writing contest, which was placed under the patronage of French astronaut Thomas Pesquet in 2017, is this year supported by French singer Calogero, whose song \u201cVoler de Nuit\u201d (\u201cFlying By Night\u201d) pays tribute to the creator of \u201cThe Little Prince\u201d and his universal humanist message.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" schoolchildren from the Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es-Orientales were able to discover with emotion the letters of the laureates, which they read under the watchful eye of several members of the competition jury and personalities from the aeronautical world, such as Antoine de Saint-Exup\u00e9ry&#8217;s great-niece, Roselyne Sartre, Marie-Vincente Lat\u00e9co\u00e8re (Pierre-Georges Lat\u00e9co\u00e8re Foundation), Rapha\u00ebl Domjan (Planet Solar and Solar Stratos) and Lo\u00efc Blaise (Polar Kid).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter style=\"text-align: justify;\">Like the 20 contest finalists, Madeleine, Marien and Lou were able to deposit their handwritten letters in a postal bag, alongside the 800 letters received from around the world for this writing contest and the letter written by the French President Emmanuel Macron himself in Saint-Louis, Senegal, so that they could travel to Dakar aboard the plane of the father-daughter tandem, Herv\u00e9 and Albane de Saint-Exupery, who took part in this aerial adventure to spread the values \u200b\u200bof the Antoine de Saint-Exup\u00e9ry Youth Foundation and to participate in the solidarity and cultural activities of the Raid for the benefit of young people in Africa.<\/p>\n<p><center><div class=\"lyte-wrapper fourthree\" were invited by the Patrouille de France to attend its pilot briefing \u2013 the rehearsal of the aerial demonstration that they would give only a few minutes later.
